Drag racing news, interviews, photography and videos for the West Texas and Southern New Mexico area.
Around two years ago, my girlfriend and I was in Hobbs, New Mexico at the Zia Park Casino for a little down time. We got tired of losing money and as we walked out the front door I heard a faint sound of something I had not heard since the Eighties. Brenda was saying something to me but I was mesmerized by that sound. I said to her “Shhh…I hear race cars!” Somewhere close by there was a drag strip and I was going to find it! We headed off in the direction of the thunder and then we could see the smoke. Then we could see a lot of trailers and toters. As we pulled through the gate a cackling door slammer goes right in front of us! My pulse rate was 110 by now. We had just entered paradise.
That is how all this got started. Brenda and I almost burned up our phones taking pictures that day at Hobbs Motorsports Park. We wanted good pictures though, with good cameras. I dug out my old Canon and we bought Brenda a Nikon. Then we proceeded to go to every drag race we could. Brenda has the same passion for drag racing that I do, so “voila!” we had a “hobby”.
Brenda and I are amateur photographers. What we have learned was through the web and a large dose of trial and error.
We have made many friends since and have over 6,000 pictures on the website from our “hobby”. I am on my second camera now.
We have created this website to provide a central location for all the drag racing news, interviews, photography and videos for the West Texas and Southern New Mexico area. Everyone can enjoy the photos and they are free to use as you wish.
Thanks for your support,
Phil and Brenda
